Kitchen: What To Drink? Grape Juice....(4th in a series)

Available from COSTCO (Thus the Kirkland name at the top)  Newman's Own is a very popular drink for us especially during these trying hot summer days.

While we often drink water or tea during the summer, we also find that this particular grape juice will re-energize us quickly--without shooting our blood sugar too high.  (I tend to drink it watered down just a bit, to decrease the calories and the sweetness.)
Scientist's and doctor's are kind of "iffy" when it comes to stating that grape juice is as good as or nearly as good as wine when it comes to certain health benefits...I'll take my antioxidants without the alcohol...especially when it is hot.

Check out these links:

  • The Mayo Clinic  feels that grape juice (and grapes for their fiber) are a good choice.
  • The World's Healthiest Foods  this column speaks about the ability of grapes to regulate blood sugar levels, and resveritrol and a host of other phytonutrients.
NO ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS OR COLORS!
There are no added sugars, no high fructose corn syrup, and added Vitamin C--we can probably use the extra C!

If you like, you can add some natural sparkling water to the grape juice and make a grape "soda" product.

We like the taste, we like the ingredients, and we like the price!!  This does come in two large containers, but we usually manage to drink them both up, with only 3 of us in the house.

It is a product "higher" in calories, but as I suggested, the flavor is so good, you can water this down a bit and it still tastes good.  The health benefits (to me) outweigh the calories.
